to flâneur or not to flâneur…
Julie and Megan: two friends who share a love of traveling – flâneuring, as the French would say. “Flâneur” is a term coined in the 19th century and used to describe men of the leisure class who wandered around Paris nonchalantly observing the world and walking wherever their feet take them. This is an accurate term for our joint travels – which started in Paris, and often entail picking a neighborhood (or coffee shop) and going from there. Megan is a bit more Type A (the planner and researcher), while Julie is the Type B (the communicator and driver). Together, we have traveled thus far to four countries, two continents – and more to come.
The Gals behind the flâneuring… little did they realize that a serendipitous assignment as golfcart-mates would lead to a lifetime of friendship, adventure, and flâneuring.
